Michigan Club and Denver Club maintained their No. 1 positions in the latest WCLA (Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates) Division I and II coaches polls, released today.
Michigan, which has not played since February 18, does not return to action until March 24. Georgia, which recorded wins over Tennessee and Georgia Tech last Saturday, is ranked second this week after sharing the top spot with Michigan last week. BYU, Delaware, and Pittsburgh round out the top five in the Division I poll.
Ohio State was the biggest mover in this week’s Division I poll, climbing four spots to No. 16 after posting wins over Purdue and Miami (Ohio).
In Division II, Denver maintained its hold on the top spot after recording wins over Utah Valley and Boise State and adding a forfeit victory versus Wyoming. There were no changes among the top five this week, with Loyola Club, SMU, Utah State and Air Force.
Vermont, which was not ranked last week, debuted at No. 13 after opening its season with a split. The Catamounts lost to Rhode Island and defeated Merrimack Club.
The WCLA features 82 Division I teams and 149 Division II teams that compete under the US Lacrosse umbrella. The 2018 season will conclude with the US Lacrosse WCLA D-I and D-II national championships in Round Rock, Texas, May 9-12.
